Jalandhar: 154 incidents of stubble burning recorded, AQI bad

Jalandhar: So far 154 incidents of stubble burning have been reported in Jalandhar. Three farm fires have been reported today. Till yesterday 151 farm fires were reported in Jalandhar. Recently, the number of farm fires in Jalandhar was at its peak – 30 farm fires were reported in a day – but now the number of farm fires has reduced and it has now been reduced to single digits.

However, with vehicular pollution, the air quality in the city remains very poor almost every day. The average AQI in the city was recorded at 205 today. Yesterday the AQI of the city was slightly better, with the average AQI being 183, maximum 261 and minimum 90. This year 113 FIRs have been registered against those burning stubble in the district. 115 red entries have been made and environmental compensation of Rs 4,72,500 has been imposed on farmers burning stubble. An amount of Rs 4,62,500 has been recovered.
