Jammu and Kashmir: Martyr Kashmiri soldier cremated in Kulgam encounter, married in 2021
Srinagar (Jammu and Kashmir): A soldier from Jammu and Kashmir’s Bandipora district, who was killed in the Kulgam encounter, was cremated with full military honors on Sunday. Constable Wasim Ahmed, who belonged to Dachigam area of Bandipora, was laid to rest at his native village with full military honors on Sunday, officials said. Bhatt was killed in an encounter with terrorists in the Halan forest area of Kulgam district on Friday when he was hit by a bullet while on duty.
Waseem, 31, was among three army personnel who were taken to the 92 Base Hospital after being seriously injured during the Halan operation in Kulgam district, where all of them succumbed to their injuries a short time later.
The mortal remains of the soldier were taken from the military hospital Srinagar to his native village Dachigam Bandipora on Sunday morning. Hundreds of local people along with top officials of the Army, Police and CRPF gathered at Middle School Dachigam to pay homage and watch the last rites conducted with full religious and military honours.
The untimely demise of Waseem has deeply saddened the community and women mourn the demise of this young soldier. Wasim was also a talented football player. He represented ‘Iqra Football Club’ in Dachigam for a long time.
Wasim has left behind his wife. They married in November 2021. His last visit home on Eid was memorable for his family, officials said. Reports also said that his wife is six months pregnant. He is survived by his wife, younger brother, parents and two married sisters.
