Jammu: Two people arrested for drinking alcohol during Shikara ride in Dal Lake
Srinagar. Srinagar: Two persons have been arrested for allegedly consuming alcohol during a Shikara ride in Dal Lake here, police said on Tuesday. The city police took the step after a video of the incident went viral on the Internet, they said.

“Srinagar Police has taken cognizance after a video of unidentified persons behaving in an inebriated condition in a Shikara in Dal Lake went viral on social media platforms,” a police spokesperson said in a post on Twitter.
A case has been registered under relevant sections of the law and two accused have been arrested, he said. “Two accused have been arrested while other suspects are being questioned. Further investigation into the matter is underway,” he said.
A video had surfaced last weekend showing a group of tourists consuming alcohol during a Shikara ride in Dal Lake, triggering outrage from civil society and religious leaders.
