Jeju Air: South Korean plane faces gear issue, a day after deadly crash

Seoul: A day after the terrible crash in South Korea that killed as many as 179 people, yet another Jeju Air plane faced a gear issue said reliable reports on Monday. A Jeju Air flight was forced to return after encountering a landing gear problem, said reports.

In the South Korea plane crash that took place yesterday, 179 people onboard are feared to have died. Two crew members have been rescued by the rescue team. One of them is a male while the other is a female.

The Jeju Air plane was travelling from Bangkok to the Muan International Airport in South Korea. The ill-fated plane was a Boeing 737-800 plane. From preliminary reports, the crash-landing might have occurred by a bird strike combined with adverse weather conditions.

Jeju Air in its latest statement has issued an apology for the accident. “Jeju Air deeply bows in apology to all those affected by the Muan Airport accident. Our first priority is to do everything possible to manage this incident. We sincerely apologise for causing concern,” read the statement on the company’s website.

The accident happened on Sunday morning when the Jeju Air Flight 2216 was returning from Bangkok. It was carrying 181 people including 175 passengers and six crew members.
