Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren will go to court against ED!
Ranchi (IANS). Jharkhand CM Hemant Soren is preparing to go to court against ED. The ED has sent summons to him to appear at the zonal office in Ranchi on August 24.
Earlier, he was also summoned to appear on August 14, but in response, the CM wrote a letter to the Assistant Director of ED, calling the summons politically motivated and illegal.
He had asked the ED to withdraw the summons, else he would be forced to take recourse to law. Now ED has summoned him for the second time despite his letter.
It is reported that Soren can directly file a petition against this in the Supreme Court or the High Court by 23 August.
Let us tell you that earlier in December last year, the Jharkhand government had challenged in the Supreme Court the direct summons sent by the ED to the officers of the Jharkhand Police. The Supreme Court, while hearing the petition of the state government in January, did not give any relief to him.
The Supreme Court said that the state government should first go to the High Court. After this, the government filed a petition in the High Court, withdrawing the petition from the Supreme Court.
The ED has asked Hemant Soren to record his statement regarding the assets of himself and his family members.
On the other hand, Hemant Soren had said in a letter to the Assistant Director of ED that there is no mention of any such thing in the summons, due to which there is a possibility of investigation against me regarding the property. As far as property is concerned, all the information related to it has been given from time to time in the income tax return.
The CM had also said that if the Enforcement Directorate needs any such documents, which have not been mentioned earlier, then they are ready to provide them. The agency should withdraw the summons or else they will be forced to take recourse to law.
