Jitendra Singh said – Cleanliness campaign created awareness about the concept of “Waste to Wealth”

New Delhi (ANI): Union Minister of State for Science and Technology Jitendra Singh on Wednesday said the ‘Swachhta’ campaign has created awareness about the concept of ‘waste to wealth’.
The Union Minister said that there is now a comprehensive better understanding of the application of innovation and technology for recycling and reusing waste materials for productive means.
Jitendra Singh was speaking at a press conference here today after reviewing the progress of the third week of the Swachhta 3.0 special campaign being implemented in all government offices across India.
Jitendra Singh advocated the trinity of artificial intelligence, robotics and drones for intelligent segregation of waste and quick disposal of the resulting materials.
“Now, if we can have an AI-powered module that can separate solid and liquid waste, we can have robots that will transport them and load them on the drone and then the drone will automatically fly and drop them to the respective destination. Will take till. ,” He said.

Underlining that every piece of waste is worth returning, Jitendra Singh said the Department of Science and Technology, Technology Development Board and CSIR have recently launched the ‘Recycling on Wheels’ bus, which due to its mobility can be shuttled to various places. Can generate waste and convert it into wealth.
Jitendra Singh said the Dehradun-based Indian Institute of Petroleum (CSIR-IIP) has jointly developed a reused cooking oil (RUCO) van that collects used cooking oil and stores it. Converts into biofuel.

Jitendra Singh said the government has earned a total revenue of Rs 776 crore from disposal of scrap metal in three special drives conducted by all government offices across the country in the last three years. A major part of this revenue, Rs 176 crore, was earned in the last 20 days of the special campaign 3.0 that is now underway.
He said, “Therefore our rate of income generation is also increasing. “It means we have now learned the skills to create wealth from it… It means we are improving our scale, now we are waiting for the saturation point.” ,

Jitendra Singh said that thanks to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the cleanliness campaign has become a mass movement since he floated the idea during his first Independence Day speech from the ramparts of the Red Fort on August 15, 2014.
“In the first year of the cleanliness campaign, more than 4 lakh toilets were built, empowering women with ‘convenience, health and dignity’. In the second year, the special campaign focused on removing hundreds of thousands of junk files”, freeing up valuable office space for productive use and cleaning electronic scrap. And Special Mission 3.0 now focuses on generating wealth from waste,” he said.

Jitendra Singh said that about 86 lakh square feet of office space was made available in three weeks of Special Campaign 3.0.
Reviewing the progress of the third week of Special Campaign 3.0, Jitendra Singh praised the Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances (DARPG) as the nodal agency.
Jitendra Singh said large-scale participation is being seen across all Ministries/Departments and their sectors/regions. He urged the Ministries and Departments to adopt a saturation approach in implementing the campaign to cover all remote offices, defense establishments and power supply units in all parts of the country.
The progress of Special Mission 3.0 is monitored daily on a dedicated portal (https://scdpm.nic.in/). Regular review meetings are held with the nodal officers under the chairmanship of DARPG Secretary to review the progress of the campaign. Special Campaign 3.0 will end on October 31, 2023, with the evaluation phase beginning in the first week of November.
