JKSA delegation urges LG to reinstate students union
Jammu. Jammu: A delegation of Kashmir University students met Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha at the Raj Bhavan and requested the restoration of the Jammu and Kashmir Students Union and discussed several key issues affecting the students of the region. The group was led by Jammu and Kashmir Students Union (JKSA) coordinator Suhail Farooq.
The delegation, which included several student representatives, highlighted the long-standing absence of the Kashmir University Students Union. They argued that restoring the union is important to improve student engagement, address grievances and encourage communication between students and the university administration. “A functional students union is essential to promote student engagement, address grievances and provide a democratic platform for dialogue between students and the university administration,” the JKSA representatives said.
Suhail Farooq, representing the JKSA, also said that reviving the students union would not only raise the voice of the students but also enhance the academic and cultural atmosphere at the University of Kashmir. He requested Lt Gen Sinha to take immediate action to revive the union. The delegation also requested that the recruitment process be expedited to prevent delays for students preparing for competitive exams. LG Sinha responded positively and assured the delegation that their concerns would be carefully considered and addressed. He reiterated the administration’s commitment to student welfare and improving educational facilities in the region, according to an official statement.
