Junagarh: The Gramarakhi (GR) of Junagarh Police Station has been apprehended by Odisha Vigilance while demanding and taking bribe. He was taking bribe for himself as well as an ASI of Junagarh Police Station.

The Gramarakhi (GR) has been identified as Sreemukha Bag and the ASI has been identified as Mukunda Khemundu, ASI, Junagarh PS.

As per reports, Sreemukha Bag, Gramarakhi (GR) of Junagarh PS, Kalahandi was apprehended by Odisha Vigilance while demanding and taking bribe of Rs.3500 on Thursday night.

Reportedly, he was taking Rs 3,000/- for the ASI and Rs 500/- for himself as per the instruction of Mukunda Khemundu, ASI, Junagarh PS from a Complainant to help him in a case registered against him in Junagarh Police Station.

The entire bribe money has been recovered from Bag and seized. On seeing the Vigilance team, ASI Mukunda Khemundu managed to escape. Efforts are on to nab him.

Following the trap, simultaneous searches are going on at two locations of Khemundu, ASI from DA angle.

In this connection, Koraput Vigilance PS Case number 30 dated 26.12.24 U/s.7 PC (Amendment) Act, 2018 has been registered.

Investigation is in progress against both ASI & GR. Detailed report follows.
