Kalyani University convocation controversy: University protesters step back
A group of pro-Trinamool Congress employees of Kalyani University who were protesting had to retreat when some academicians attacked them leaving the venue of the thirtieth convocation of Kalyani University in Nadia on Thursday.
The employees protested against the convocation ceremony under the direction of interim Vice-Chancellor Amalendu Bhuniya and started the agitation from Tuesday. Due to the protests, Universidad Kalyani officials had to postpone the program till Wednesday night.
But later that night, Governor C.V. Anand Bose, ignoring the alleged notification of “Plazamiento”, ordered the Vice Chancellor to hold the program scheduled for Thursday and asked the administration of Nadia to make necessary arrangements for his visit.
Without finding any way to stop the call, a section of the university staff led by Trinamool’s Shikshabandhu Committee and persons from their agencies allegedly started threatening officials, professors and students. He said that he did not participate in this program. But the staff faced strong opposition from the graduates, who forced them to leave the call space due to “excessive interest”.
