Kamal Haasan’s party MNM will form alliance for 2024 elections
Chennai: Tamil superstar Kamal Haasan’s Makkal Needhi Maiam (MNM) is planning to form a political alliance with anti-BJP parties ahead of the 2024 general elections. According to sources, the party is focusing on three Lok Sabha seats Coimbatore, Madurai and South Chennai. It is noteworthy that in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections and 2021 Assembly elections, MNM had performed well in these three Lok Sabha constituencies.
Party sources told IANS that Kamal Haasan has informed his party’s district level officials about the political steps to be taken by the party. In the 2021 assembly elections, MNM secured 3.43 per cent of the total vote share in the state and the party leadership is insisting that the party will win seats in the alliance.
The party is targeting at least three Lok Sabha seats in the 2024 elections and is planning electoral alliances based on this. However, party officials confirmed to IANS that MNM will never form an alliance with the BJP in the next elections.
The MNM youth wing will organize two-wheeler rallies in all the assembly constituencies of the state to create awareness among the people about the political position adopted by the party. The party leadership will also communicate to the people in all assembly constituencies about the party’s position on better governance.
