Javed Akhtar Slams Nitish Kumar Over Lady Doctors Hijab Incident

It is known that protests are being expressed across the country over the way Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar behaved towards a Muslim woman doctor. Nitish Kumar is facing criticism after he forcibly pulled the hijab of a woman doctor at a function in Patna. The incident took place on Monday during the awarding of certificates to AYUSH doctors. The Congress and RJD have already reacted strongly to this incident. However, recently, famous film lyricist Javed Akhtar has reacted strongly to this incident. He expressed astonishment at the public removal of a woman doctor’s hijab and strongly condemned the Chief Minister’s action.
On this occasion, Javed Akhtar wrote his opinion on social media. Everyone who knows me knows that I have been opposing the ‘Partha’ (veil) practice traditionally followed by women from the beginning. However, just because I oppose Partha, I cannot justify the inappropriate behavior of a person at the level of the Chief Minister towards a woman. I cannot accept what Nitish Kumar did in the case of a Muslim woman doctor. I condemn this misdeed in the strongest terms. He demanded that Chief Minister Nitish Kumar should immediately and unconditionally apologize to the victimized woman doctor.
