Karnataka constitutes cabinet sub-committee to monitor Covid situation
Bengaluru: The state government will soon constitute a cabinet sub-committee to monitor the Covid situation in the state and take necessary preventive measures.
Chief Minister Siddaramaiah said, “The committee will hold regular meetings with the Covid Technical Advisory Committee (TAC). We will ensure that the sub-committee and the TAC work in coordination with each other and the measures suggested by the TAC are fully implemented.” Go.” Said after holding a review meeting on Thursday.
He said the sub-committee will keep a close watch on the developments and review the measures from time to time.
Siddaramaiah asserted that the government will release necessary funds for the purchase of medical essentials and officials have been directed to ensure that the state is prepared to deal with any surge. “As we increase testing, the number of Covid cases may increase in the state. I have asked officials to ensure that we have enough beds, oxygen cylinders, ventilators and other medical supplies to handle any surge in cases,” he said. He said that the government will also purchase vaccines if needed.
While masks have been made mandatory for people above 60 years of age, Siddaramaiah has also urged others to follow the order in crowded places. He also indicated that the government may soon open dedicated Covid wards if necessary. “We have to ensure that no patient is inconvenienced. Therefore, I have suggested that dedicated wards be started so that all facilities are available under one roof,” he said.
However, Siddaramaiah said that the situation in the state is under control and there is no need to panic. “There is nothing to worry about. However, it is important that we remain prepared and alert,” he said.
Currently, there are 94 active Covid cases in the state. Of the 92 patients, 72 are in home isolation and 20 have been admitted to hospital. Only seven of them are being treated in ICU due to other health complications. Recently, three Covid deaths have been reported in the state.
Siddaramaiah said, “We cannot say that all these are due to Covid, the patients also had many other serious diseases.”
