Karnataka Digital Economy Mission CEO calls for ‘Beyond Bengaluru Mission’

BENGALURU: To expand entrepreneurship and development beyond Bengaluru, Karnataka Digital Economy Mission (KDEM) chief executive officer Sanjeev Gupta on Friday said plans to build pipes connecting clusters of Mysuru, Belgaum, Hubli-Dharwad, Mangaluru are underway. Needed. Tumkur, etc.
In his opening remarks during a session on “Finding Boundary Hitters: Beyond Bengaluru” at the Bengaluru Technology Summit-2023, Gupta emphasized on why there is a need for Bengaluru to move ahead and do much bigger things that Bengaluru is not thinking about. Can’t either.

“If there is an aspiration to go beyond Bengaluru, the creation of a ‘Beyond Bengaluru Mission’ is important,” Gupta said.
Among these groups, local industry champions lead the Karnataka Digital Economy Mission, part of the state government’s initiative “Beyond Bengaluru”. “There is a need to create an edge for different products in different groups,” he said.
“In the last two years, in the journey of this mission, we have helped 47 companies set up their operations,” Gupta said.
The session brought out the entrepreneurial spirit in young minds when students of a government high school in Belgaum district showcased their innovation – Light Writer Pen.

Due to lack of electricity in the village, students were facing difficulty in studying in the dark. This inspired him to create the Light Writer Pen, which was similar to a flashlight that could be attached to the pen. Once charged for 30 minutes, they can use it for 10 hours. Student entrepreneurs were urged to access mentorship, technical assistance, labs, funding and market access to scale their businesses and bring in more models.

Entrepreneur Kiriti Kapavari believes that the need of the hour is to encourage students from small towns to pursue their ideas and innovation.

Giving an outside perspective on problem-solving capabilities becoming a huge business opportunity, Ananya Mungara, founder of Smart Chakra, said this is already being seen in tier II cities. Jitendra P. Nayak, member of TIE Hubli, said people in smaller towns need similar treatment and facilities. “The best opportunity to set up a business locally is through localities,” he said. Suresh Narasimhan, Managing Partner, Cocreate Ventures moderated the session.
