Karnataka Expresses Trust in EVMs, Minister Denies Link to Survey Report

Bengaluru: A survey was recently conducted in Karnataka on the trust of voters in Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs). The survey was conducted by the Karnataka Monitoring and Evaluation Authority, which is run by the Planning and Statistics Department. Opinions were collected from about 5100 voters. However, 85 percent of the voters expressed their trust in EVMs. They said that the 2024 Lok Sabha elections were conducted freely. The survey report has now led to a clash between the Congress and the BJP.
The Karnataka government has denied any involvement in the survey conducted by the Planning and Statistics Department. The BJP has accused the Congress of adopting a double standard. BJP leader BY Vijayendra posted on his X account that Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s allegations of vote rigging are not true. He said that the survey report is making that clear. But Karnataka IT Minister Priyank Kharge said that permission was not given for the survey. Kharge said that the survey was conducted by an NGO owned by a person linked to the PMO office.
