Karnataka government is making every possible effort to bust fake news, cyber crime

Bengaluru: Chief Minister Siddaramaiah announced in the Budget that in an effort to combat fake news, an Information Disruption Unit (IDTU) will be formed in collaboration with the IT and BT departments.

A unit will be formed to take strict action against those who create insecurity and fear in the society by spreading fake news. He said that a special cell would be formed in the Home Department to take necessary legal action against them.

In view of increasing cyber crime, including deep fakes, 43 CEN (Cyber, Economic and Narcotics) police stations will be upgraded to strengthen the cyber crime branch to investigate suspects and take effective action against them, proposed in the budget. Is. Additionally, necessary equipment and software will be provided at a cost of Rs 10 crore to strengthen the mobile forensics and audio-visual wing of the Forensic Science Laboratories (FSL). While a high-security jail will be constructed in Shivamogga for Rs 100 crore, AI software, baggage scanners and other state-of-the-art equipment will be purchased for security of all jails in the state for Rs 5 crore.
