Karuvannur: ED issues notice to CPM Thrissur district secretary

Thrissur: In a surprise development, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) has served a notice to CPM Thrissur district secretary M M Varghese in connection with a fraud case involving Karuvannur Service Co-operative Bank.

ED directed the CPM leader to appear for questioning on Wednesday. Earlier he was interrogated by ED in this case.
The Enforcement Directorate (ED) served a notice as part of the second phase of its investigation into the multi-crore bank scam.

Earlier, the ED had summoned local CPM leaders Anoop Davis Kaida and Madhu Ambalapuram in the case. Meanwhile, reports indicate that former minister AC Moideen and CPM leader MK Kannan will also be served notices.
In the chargesheet filed in the case, ED had alleged that CPM had many secret bank accounts in the bank. The ED also indicated its intention to investigate the involvement of senior party leaders in the scam.
