A new suburban bus station is likely to open soon in Dharmapuri.

Tamil Nadu: The newly constructed suburban bus stand in Dharmapuri is expected to open to the public soon. In this regard, work is underway to construct approach roads and entrance ramps to allow buses to access the bus stand from the national highway.
The Pugar Bus Stand and the City Bus Stand in Dharmapuri town are located close to each other. To alleviate the existing congestion, lack of facilities, and traffic jams at these bus stands, which are over 45 years old, and to provide adequate space for bus parking and basic amenities for passengers, a government order was issued a few years ago to construct a new bus stand on a larger area outside the city.
Following this, the Dharmapuri Municipality decided to construct a new bus stand on 10 acres of land in Reddiyali village of Sogathur Panchayat near Dharmapuri under the Private Contribution Fund Scheme. Subsequently, the construction of a new bus stand at a cost of Rs. 39.14 crore in A. Reddiyali village, near Dharmapuri, through a public-private partnership, commenced a few months ago.
At the new bus station, work is progressing rapidly on the construction of shops, restaurants, an ATM center, a security room for luggage storage, toilets, a time manager’s room, a breastfeeding room for mothers, rest rooms for passengers and drivers, a 55-seat bus bay, a footpath, and seating areas for passengers on the ground and first floors.
Approach Roads and Entrance Ramps: To facilitate easy access for buses to this bus stand, work is currently underway to construct a 2-meter wide approach road extending 500 meters from the flyover section of the Salem-Krishnagiri National Highway. Similarly, an approach road is also being constructed along the Dharmapuri-Pennagaram State Highway, which serves as the entry point for buses. In addition, the construction of entrance ramps at the bus entry and exit points within the bus stand is also in progress. It is expected that this new bus stand will be opened to the public after the completion of all these works. Chief Minister’s Inauguration Opportunity: Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin, who visited Dharmapuri on November 3, personally inspected the ongoing construction work of the new bus stand in Dharmapuri. At that time, he instructed the officials to complete the construction work of the bus stand with high quality and speed and make it available for public use.
Following this, the construction work of the bus stand has been progressing rapidly. It is understood that the Chief Minister may inaugurate the bus stand after the completion of the work.
In this context, Chief Minister M.K. Stalin will be visiting Dharmapuri district on December 14 to participate in an event. It is being said that the new bus stand may be opened to the public on that day.
