Kejriwal praises DJB workers for successful rescue in Uttarkashi tunnel operation
New Delhi: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal met 15 laborers working with the Delhi Jal Board (DJB) who played an important role in making the Uttarkashi tunnel operation a success. Expressing his appreciation, Kejriwal acknowledged their dedication, saying, “You risked your lives, worked tirelessly day and night and saved 41 people trapped in the tunnel.
Today, the world is often self-centered, where people think primarily about themselves and their families. In such a context, people like you come to the fore. The courageous efforts made by you are being recognized across the country. The whole country is appreciating your tireless work day and night to save the lives of those people at this time.” The Chief Minister is proud of the fact that these individuals, who have been part of DJB for many years, are from Delhi.
He expressed happiness at getting the opportunity to sit and chat over tea with 15 workers on their return to Delhi from Uttarkashi. During the talks, the workers gave detailed information to Kejriwal about the challenges faced in reaching the 41 people trapped in the tunnel. He described the intense heat generated by the American auger machine and the extreme heat of the rods cutting them. “With inches of space between them, cutting was extremely challenging. Despite the extreme heat, we cut all the auger rods, working continuously for 36 hours without sleep or rest until we reached the trapped persons. We never lost courage, risked our lives to save others and contributed to the well-being of Delhi and our country. We are proud of our work,” he shared.
