Kenyan woman caught with drugs worth Rs 14.90 crore at airport
Mumbai: Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) sleuths on Thursday arrested a Kenyan woman for smuggling cocaine worth Rs 14.90 crore.
Based on intelligence developed by DRI, a female passenger of Kenyan nationality, who had arrived by flight from Nairobi to Mumbai, was apprehended by DRI officials at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMI).
Examination of his luggage resulted in the recovery of 1490 grams of a white powdery substance, determined to be cocaine, with an illicit market value of ₹14.90 crore.
The medicines were hidden in two black polythene packets, containing a white powder-like substance, inside a hair conditioner bottle and a body wash bottle.
The passenger has been arrested under the provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act and sent to judicial custody. Officials said further investigation is underway to trace further links in the drugs supply chain.
