Rain likely over South Tamil Nadu and North Coast today

Tamil Nadu: The Chennai Meteorological Department has reported that light rain is likely over southern Tamil Nadu and the northern coast on Wednesday (April 8).
A press release issued by the Meteorological Department on Tuesday stated: Due to the low pressure area extending from West Bengal to the Gulf of Mannar, Odisha and adjoining areas, Telangana, Rayalaseema, and Tamil Nadu, light rain with thunder and lightning is likely at isolated places over southern Tamil Nadu, northern coastal Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal on Wednesday (April 8). Northern interior districts are likely to experience northerly weather. On Thursday (April 9), light rain with thunder and lightning is likely at isolated places over western highland districts, southern Tamil Nadu, northern coastal Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal.
Light rain is likely at isolated places over Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal on Friday (April 10).
Moderate rain is likely at one or two places in the western highlands districts, and light rain is likely at one or two places in the delta districts and Karaikal areas from April 11 to April 13. Rainfall forecast in Chennai today: Partly cloudy skies are expected in Chennai and Puducherry on Wednesday. Moderate rain is expected in some parts of the city.
Temperature: Maximum temperatures are expected to increase slightly in Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal until April 11.
Rainfall: In Tamil Nadu, the highest rainfall in the last 24 hours ending at 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday was recorded in Mandapam, Thangachimadam, Rameswaram in Ramanathapuram district, Thirukattupalli in Thanjavur district, Avudaiyarkoil, Nandanam, Valasaravakkam in Pudukkottai district, Anna University in Chennai, and Uthukkottai in Tiruvallur district, with each area receiving 50 mm of rain. Karaikudi, Devakottai (Sivaganga), Mela Alathur (Vellore), Adyar (Chennai), Aranthangi (Pudukkottai), and Eraniel (Kanyakumari) – each recorded 40 mm of rainfall, it was reported.
