Kerala: Leftist cyber activist found dead in rented house in Thiruvananthapuram

Thiruvananthapuram: A 47-year-old leftist cyber activist was found dead in his rented house at Puthen Theruvu in Fort police station limits on Monday.

Gopi Unnikrishnan, a native of Melattur in Malappuram district, was found hanging on Monday afternoon. Police said that it could be a case of suicide.

Gopi was active in cyberspace under the pseudonym of Beena Sunny, who attracted attention due to her unwavering loyalty to CPM politics.

The Facebook page also sparked controversy and several complaints were made against it for its content and language.

Just hours before her death, Gopi had revealed her real identity to her followers and had also changed her social media accounts to her name.

Gopi had worked as a broadcaster of a vernacular daily and had been working at the Kudumbashree juice shop in East Fort for a long time.
