Kidnapped in the name of cricketer Dhoni, then extorted lakhs of rupees

Ranchi Police has arrested eight people, including three women, in the incident of kidnapping of a woman’s one and a half year old child and selling it to a couple for Rs 1.25 lakh on the pretext of getting a house and money from cricketer Mahendra Singh Dhoni. The child who was sold has also been recovered. The child was kidnapped from Hinnu in Ranchi city on October 22. Madhu Devi, a resident of Jagannathpur area of Ranchi, was standing in Hinu with her child, when a man and a woman came there and told her that Mahendra Singh Dhoni was distributing houses and money among the poor. On his request, the woman accompanied him on a bike and reached Harmu Electricity Office. Here, after engaging her in conversation, the man and woman ran away with her child.

Ranchi SSP Chandan Kumar Sinha said that SIT was formed to investigate this matter. The team first caught Vinay Verma, resident of Madhukam, Ranchi and Saluja Begum, resident of Simdega. During their interrogation and investigation, it was revealed that the child had been sold to a childless couple from Itkhori in Chatra district. One by one, the police arrested the other accused involved in the buying and selling of the child, Geeta Munda, Krishna Mishra, resident of Ramgarh, Sajid Ansari, resident of Chanho, Ranchi, Mahendra Sao, Kunti Devi and Sarita Devi, resident of Itkhori, Chatra.
