KIIT-KISS honored medal winners of Asian Games and World University Games 2023

Bhubaneswar: Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology (KIIT) and Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences (KISS), Bhubaneswar since their inception have been working together to not only serve the interest of its students but also to leave a mark of Odisha as a sports loving state across the world. The heroes and star players of India’s victory at the Asian Games and World University Games 2023 held a grand felicitation ceremony in honor of KIIT and KISS students who won medals at the recently concluded 19th Asian Games, 2023 in Hangzhou, in which China presented its Spread shine. and the 31st World University Games, 2023 in Chengdu, China.

During the felicitation ceremony, Tajinderpal Singh Toor, Asian Games – Gold Medalist (Shot Put), and Amit Rohidas, Asian Games – Gold Medalist (Hockey) were given a financial incentive of Rs 5 lakh each; While Kishore Kumar Jena, Asian Games – silver medalist (javelin throw), and Tejaswin Shankar, Asian Games – silver medalist (decathlon) were given Rs 3 lakh each; And Amlaan Borgohain, World University Games – bronze medalist (200m) and Priyanka, World University Games – bronze medalist (20km race walk team) will be given Rs 2 lakh respectively.

Odisha’s first Olympian Anuradha Biswal, veteran footballer and Odisha women’s football team coach Shraddhaanjali Samantre, Olympian Dutee Chand and India’s fastest man Amiya Mallik, Odisha Rugby Association Secretary Upendra Mohanty, KIIT-KISS Founder Dr Achyuta Samant, Vice Chancellor KIIT – DU Professor Saranjit Singh and Director General Sports KIIT-KISS Dr. Gaganendu Dash honored the players.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Samant said, “The sports landscape in Odisha has completely changed under the visionary leadership of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik. Following the footsteps of the Odisha government, KIIT and KISS always reach out and help the players in case of any issues they face. He said, KIIT and KISS have produced 15 Olympians and more than 5 thousand players from state level to international level.

14 students of KIIT Deemed-to-be-University represented India in the recently concluded Asian Games, 2023 in Hangzhou, China and four of them won medals. Similarly, 18 students from three universities of Odisha, including 14 students from KIIT, participated in the World University Games, 2023 in Chengdu, China and two students from KIIT won bronze medals, Dr. Gagnendu Dash said. Vice Chancellor Professor Saranjit Singh also called for greater use of technology in sports coaching and enabling candidates to achieve better results.
