Tamil Nadu: Summer training camp for Plus 1 students in government schools from May 17
Tamil Nadu: This year, special Summer Celebration Training Camps will begin on May 17th for Plus 1 students studying in government schools across Tamil Nadu. These camps are being organized for students who have excelled in academics, literature, and sports. The aim is to enhance students’ personality development, as well as their academic and social abilities.
In this regard, Director of School Education S. Kannappan has issued a circular to all District Primary Education Officers in the state. The circular states that, like every year, this special training program is being organized for meritorious Plus 1 pass students from government schools so that they can utilize their summer vacation for learning and skill development.
For the academic year 2025-2026, five-day training camps will be held in two districts—Nilgiris and Tirupattur (Yelagiri). A total of 895 students have been selected for these camps, who have demonstrated academic achievements as well as performed well in literary and science competitions.
The camp to be held in the Nilgiris district will train 690 female students. The camp to be held in the Yelagiri area of Tirupattur district will be attended by 205 male students. These camps will focus on the holistic development of students by engaging them in various academic, cultural, and sports activities.
During these summer camps, students will be trained in key areas such as teamwork, leadership, communication skills, and creative thinking. They will also have the opportunity to learn through various competitions and activities.
The Education Department believes that such programs prepare students for practical life, not just academics. This increases their self-confidence and enables them to better face future challenges.
According to officials, this initiative is ongoing with the aim of giving new direction to government school students and honing their talents. The scope of such programs may be further expanded in the future.
