The full moon date of Magh month is considered very special. This year Magh Purnima is on 24 February 2024. Although the full moon of every month is considered special from the point of view of worship, but the full moon of Magh month has special religious significance. Taking bath in a holy river on this day is considered very important. Besides, this day is also considered special for Lord Vishnu and Mother Lakshmi. There is a religious belief that on this day the gods come to visit the earth. In such a situation, the gods are pleased by bathing in the Ganga and donating on this day. Auspicious time of Magh Purnima
Magh Purnima Tithi will start from 3:36 pm on 23 February 2024 and will continue till 6:36 pm the next day on 24 February. Considering Udaya Tithi, Magh Purnima is being celebrated on 24 February 2024. The auspicious time for bathing and donating on this day is from 5.11 am to 6.02 am.
Magh Purnima Puja Method
On the day of Magh Purnima, one should take bath in Ganga in Brahma Muhurta. If bathing in Ganga is not possible then you can take bath by mixing Ganga water in water.
After bathing, offer Arghya while chanting Om Namo Narayana Mantra.
Then to pay homage, stand facing the sun and put sesame seeds in water and offer it.
After this start worship.
Offer charanamrit, paan, sesame seeds, moli, roli, kumkum, fruits, flowers, panchgavya, betel nut, durva etc. in the offering.
Finally perform aarti and prayer.
Mother Lakshmi, the goddess of moon and wealth, should be worshiped on Purnima.
Importance of bathing in Ganga on Magh Purnima
According to mythological beliefs, gods come to earth in the month of Magh, hence bathing and donating on this day has special significance. According to the scriptures, Magh Purnima is considered very special for those devotees who stay on the banks of river Sangam in the month of Magh and take bath, meditate with fasting and restraint, because on this day they complete the tradition of their Kalpvas. Taking bath in Ganga in Prayagraj on this day is considered very auspicious. With this all the wishes of the person are fulfilled. And salvation is attained.

On Magh Purnima, there is a tradition of worshiping Goddess Lakshmi, the goddess of moon and wealth. Worshiping Goddess Lakshmi on this day brings happiness and prosperity. Also, by worshiping the Moon at night at moonrise on Magh Purnima, Chandra Dosha is removed.
