Know the time to offer Arghya to Sun God during Chhath Puja
Chhath Puja: During Chhath Puja, women observe a waterless fast for 36 hours for the health, success and long life of their children. This year Chhath is starting from 17th November. Chhath Puja is celebrated on Shashthi Tithi of Kartik Shukla. It is also called Surya Shashthi. Chhath Puja is celebrated 6 days after Diwali. Chhath is celebrated with great pomp in the North Indian states of Bihar, Jharkhand and Eastern Uttar Pradesh. On this day, Sun God and Chhathi Maiya are worshiped and Ardhya is offered to them. This Chhath, which lasts for four days, starts with Nahay-Hay. And it ends with the offering of Argh to the Sun God, so know what is the right time to offer the Argh to the Sun God.
First day of Chhath Puja: Nahay-Khay- 17 November: The tradition of Nahay-Khay is celebrated on the fourth day of Diwali i.e. Chaturthi of Shukla Paksha of Kartik month. Special rituals are performed on this day. This time Chhath Puja will start from 17th November. Cleaning and purification of the house is done on this day. After this, the fast starts after taking bath and eating pure vegetarian food. At this time, all the family members including the fasting person eat pumpkin vegetable and radish along with rice in Nahay Khay. Other members of the household take food only after the fasting person has finished eating.
Second day of Chhath Puja: Kharna- 18 November: On the second day, 5th of Kartik month, devotees fast for the whole day. This day is called Kharna. On this day, fasting women take bath in the morning and observe fast for the whole day. On the next day, Prasad is also made to offer Ardhya to Lord Surya. Jaggery kheer is made for evening puja. This prasad is cooked in wood on a new earthen stove.

Third day of Chhath Puja: Half of the setting sun ā 19 November: Chhath Puja is the main date of Kartik Shukla Paksha. On this day, preparations are made for puja in the evening. Ardha soup is served in a bamboo basket. On this day, fasting women offer Ardhya to the Sun along with their family and it is also called Sandhya Ardhya.

Fourth day of Chhath Puja: Ardhya to the rising sun ā 20 November: Ardhya is offered to the rising sun on the fourth day of Kartik Shukla Saptami. On this day, devotees stand in water before sunrise to have darshan of the Sun God and offer prayers to the Sun. After Ardhya, the devotees complete their fast by eating Prasad.
