KOCHI: Kerala performs best in Startup India ranking
Kochi: Kerala has done this. After being declared the top performer in the last three editions of the state startup rankings, Kerala was declared the best performer in the fourth edition of the ranking. This is the biggest achievement for the startup ecosystem in the state. The ranking, established by Startup India under the department for promotion of industry and trade, was announced by Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal on Tuesday. But today we have made it a reality. Industries and Coir Minister P Rajeev said the revolutionary changes brought under the first and second Pinarayi governments were important steps towards this achievement. Anup Ambika, CEO, Kerala Startup Mission, said, “This recognition comes as a testament to Kerala’s unwavering commitment to fostering a strong startup ecosystem, exemplified by a range of initiatives including state-of-the-art incubation facilities and adequate startup funding ” At the awards ceremony, Goyal presented the awards to officials of Kerala Startup Mission, the state’s lead agency for entrepreneurship development and incubation activities. According to the CEO of Startup Mission, Kerala’s victory lies in its comprehensive approach across various dimensions of startup growth. “The state emerged as a leader in all seven reform areas and 25 action points of the ranking framework in 2022. Notable elements that have contributed to Kerala’s success include its capacity building initiatives, prowess in securing startup funding, leading role in procurement, commitment to sustainability. , role as an incubation hub, mentorship advocacy, innovation leadership and institutional champion. Rajeev said Kerala has been declared the best performer along with Gujarat, Tamil Nadu and Karnataka. “At this stage, I am reminded of the changes brought by the state government through the Kerala Startup Mission, which includes world-class startup incubation facility, super fab labs and financial assistance. Our startup ecosystem has achieved this level by gaining international recognition as well. “This achievement will help us continue our leap into the world of innovative industries and lay a solid foundation for the knowledge-based economy pioneered by the Left Democratic Front,” he said. Meanwhile, Anup Ambika said the recognition reflects Kerala’s continued excellence as it has consistently achieved the title of top performer in the last three editions of the startup ranking. “The state’s dedication to promoting innovation and entrepreneurship has established it as a leader in the startup ecosystem, setting a high standard for others to emulate.”
