Kumar Purnima: Partial lunar eclipse to illuminate the night skies today

Bhubaneswar: On Kumar Purnima, a partial lunar eclipse will grace the night skies across Odisha and several other regions. This celestial event will be observable in the Western Pacific Ocean, Australia, Europe, Africa, and South America.The partial lunar eclipse is scheduled to commence at wee hours of October 29. It will commence at 1:05 AM and conclude at 2:24 AM, with a total duration of 1 hour and 19 minutes.To mark the occasion, special rituals will be observes at various temples across India. The eclipse will be at its peak at 4:05 AM (local time), at which time people will perform traditional rituals and seek blessings.Devotees are advised to complete their puja activities before the lunar eclipse begins. It’s important to note that during the eclipse, direct viewing of the moon is discouraged. Consequently, after 4:05 PM, it is recommended to abstain from gazing at the moon until the eclipse concludes.

To cleanse and purify the surroundings, it is essential to perform a special Chandra Darshan Puja after the eclipse concludes. Following this, people can relish a delightful meal and break their fast. The next lunar eclipse is anticipated to occur on September 7, 2025, after the last lunar eclipse on November 8, 2022.
