Laborer dies, attacked by tiger
Ramnagar: A Nepali laborer engaged in bush cutting duties within the Jim Corbett National Park area fell victim to a tiger attack, resulting in his tragic demise. Notably, the Dhikala zone of Corbett National Park is scheduled to reopen for tourists on November 15, prompting the park administration to intensify its preparatory efforts.
Shiva (22), hailing from Nepal, was involved in bush cutting activities alongside 10 family members under the supervision of departmental personnel. Abruptly, a tiger launched an assault on Shiva. Responding to Shiva’s cries, his family members and departmental staff rushed to his aid. However, upon hearing the tiger’s menacing roar, the rescuers recoiled and sounded an alarm.
The on-site personnel discharged two to three rounds into the air in an attempt to ward off the tiger. Subsequently, the tiger retreated into the forest, leaving Shiva in a grievous state. Shiva was swiftly transported to the Ramnagar Government Hospital by family members and departmental staff, where doctors, regrettably, pronounced him dead.
