Lakhs of rupees are being siphoned off by tampering with ATMs. There was a conspiracy to rob the bank after the ATM, but before that the miscreants were busted. The robbery was carried out in the cooperative bank located in Kotwali. Within 24 hours of the incident, the Gariaband police arrested the accused. First blew 3 lakhs, then cheated 6 lakhs. Actually, the Kotwali police had registered a case of fraud of 3 lakh 48 thousand. The miscreants have accepted to cheat Rajim of more than 6 lakhs. 3 accused of Kannauj gang have been arrested in the case. 31 pieces of ATM cards have been seized from the accused. The case pertains to District Cooperative Central Bank Maryadit Raipur branch Gariaband located in City Kotwali area of District Gariaband. Jahan’s branch manager Hariram Dhruv’s father Late Devsingh Dhruv lodged a written complaint at Gariaband police station.
On 23.06.2023, an unknown person has fraudulently withdrawn Rs.3,46,500/- by tampering with the ATM machine installed in the premises of the branch, about which crime no. Under the instructions of Senior Superintendent of Police Amit Tukaram Kamble, the police came into action mode. During the search for the address of the accused, meeting with all the branch managers of the district, necessary suggestions were given to keep a special watch on ATMs and CCTVs. Meanwhile, on the evening of 19.07.2023, a person was trying to commit ATM fraud in the ATM of District Cooperative Central Bank Maryadit Raipur branch, Gariaband, whose action was recorded in the CCTV footage.
Bank manager Hariram Dhruv gave this information to the special team. After this, the special team conducted a thorough investigation by blockade the city. Meanwhile, a suspicious person was detained near the bus stand and strictly interrogated, who told that he had come to Gariaband with two of his companions for the purpose of cheating by committing bank fraud. At the instance of the suspect, his other two accomplices were taken into custody. On detailed enquiry, they accepted the fraud by tampering with ATM machines in Gariaband and Rajim. 31 pieces of ATM cards and Rs.5,200/- in cash have been seized from the possession of the three accused, after which the three accused were duly arrested and presented before the Hon’ble Court in judicial remand.
