Hoshiarpur: Hoshiarpur-born late, who earned worldwide fame in technical education. Paying tribute to Dr. D.D. Ghai, today the hostel of Pandit Jagatram Government Polytechnic College, Hoshiarpur has been named D.D. Ghai Hostel. On this occasion, Mayor Surinder Kumar and Cabinet Minister Bram Shankar Jimpa’s brother Rajeshwar Dayal Babbi reached Pandit Jagatram Government Polytechnic College today and inaugurated the name of the hostel. After this, Mayor Surinder Kumar and Rajeshwar Dayal Babbi also inaugurated the Inter-Polytechnic Football Tournament at Pandit JR Government Polytechnic College and inspired the players to play with the spirit of the game. He has brought glory to Hoshiarpur not only in Punjab but across the country with his technical skills and today we are proud to name the hostel of Pandit Jagatram Government Polytechnic College after him. On this occasion Late Ravinder Mohan Ghai, son of D.D. Ghai, told that his father, after completing his engineering education on behalf of Dr. D.D. Ghai, opened an engineering institute in Hoshiarpur in the name of Provincial Institute of Engineering in 1928, which was declared a National Institute of Technology in 1933. It was named Institute of Engineering.
After this, in 1962, he gave his college to the government, after which this college was named after Pandit J.R. Polytechnic College was situated. Expressing his gratitude to the Punjab Government, he said that today he is very happy that as a tribute to his father, the college hostel has been named after his father. On this occasion, Principal of Pandit Jagatram Polytechnic College Sandeep Singla, Professor Rajesh Dhunna, Dr. Richa Ghai Thamman, J.S. Chauhan, A.K Gupta, Dr. Neel Kharbanda, Sandeep Gupta, Dr. Ramesh Nanda, Kulwant Singh Ahuluwalia, Madhusudan, P.S. Gill, Dinesh Mahajan, CA Taranjit, Satish Puri, Harpreet Kaur, Pratibha Bhandari, Dr. Madhubala Ghai, Satwant Singh Sian, Councilor Harvinder Winder, Sumesh Soni, Harjinder Singh Virdi and other dignitaries were also present.
