Kawardha. In Kabirdham, elephants destroyed many houses and trampled the crops in the fields. On Saturday, elephants caused havoc in Agrapani village. According to the villagers, a herd of elephants entered the village at midnight and ate the grains kept in the houses.
According to the Forest Department, a herd of 7 to 8 elephants suddenly entered Kabirdham from Kanha National Park and Marg Tiger Reserve area. The villagers of Agrapani are angry with the fact that herds of elephants often come to the village and cause destruction. Even after information, the forest department team completely fails to stop the elephants and drive them away.
Regarding the incident, the villagers say that they were sleeping in their houses when they saw the wall of their house shaking. Before they could understand anything, the elephants broke the walls of the houses and ate the grains kept in the corner of the house. The frightened villagers ran away towards the forest.
The villagers of Agarpani also informed the forest department team about the arrival of elephants. The Forest Department team did not reach the spot even after receiving the information, due to which there is a lot of anger among the villagers against the Forest Department. Some villagers claim that a herd of elephants was creating havoc in Karanjia village of Madhya Pradesh.
When the forest department team and the villagers chased the elephants away, some elephants ran to the other side while two elephants got separated from the herd. This herd had reached Kabirdham in search of lost elephants.
