Life imprisonment to the accused in the murder of an elderly woman
Moradabad. Robin Raghav, who murdered an elderly woman, was sentenced to life imprisonment and fine by the District and Additional Judge (Fast Track Court) on Wednesday. Robin Raghav, son of recently convicted Satyaveer Singh, lives in Ajmatnagar Jodre of Sonpur police station area (Hazrat Nagar Garhi) of Moradabad. Dinesh Kumar Kashyap, additional defense counsel for the district government, said, on August 18, 2020, Amit Kumar lodged an FIR with the police against Robin Raghav for the murder of his mother Pushpa alias Nani Devi. He said that he has provided this. On August 14, his mother Pushpa alias Nani Devi had gone to collect goods from the coat store in Udhampur at around 11 am.
Amit and his younger brother Shyamendra were also with their mother, but as soon as they reached in front of Ajmat Nagar Jorara village, Robin who came from the front started harassing their mother. When his mother protested, Robin hit her several times on the head with an iron hammer. Pushpa’s mother (also known as Nani Devi) was seriously injured, fell down drenched in blood and died shortly afterwards. Amit Kumar also told the police that he and his brother Shyamendra tried to catch Robin but the accused escaped. This incident happened in front of Amit and his brother Shyamendra. In this case, Third District and Sessions Court Judge Vimal Verma on Wednesday sentenced Robin Raghav to 10 days of simple imprisonment in lieu of paying the fine. The judge also sentenced the accused to two years’ rigorous imprisonment and a fine of Rs 1,000 for intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of public peace. It was decided that if the defendant fails to pay the fine, he will be sentenced to 10 days simple imprisonment.
