Liquor shops to be fined Rs. 20 lakh in Odisha if charging more than MRP
Bhubaneswar/Cuttack: A fine of up to Rs 5000 will be imposed on liquor shops. In this regard, the latest report on Thursday said that if caught charging more than the Maximum Retail Price (MRP) in Odisha, a fine of Rs 20 lakh will be imposed. According to the latest reports, the Odisha Excise Department has decided to impose a hefty fine of Rs 20 lakh on liquor shop owners for charging more than the price printed on bottles or cans. Such an incident took place at a liquor counter in Ramdaspur under Barang police limits in Cuttack district of Odisha. A few days ago, at a liquor shop in Ramdaspur area, liquor was being sold to people at Rs 10 more than the MRP of the bottle. People were also seen paying Rs 10 more to buy liquor. A fine of five thousand rupees was imposed on the shopkeeper. In this regard, it has been said in the report that 20 lakhs. After receiving the news, a special team of the local excise department was waiting there. In the evening the department conducted a surprise check and hurriedly sealed the shop. After this he conducted a surprise inspection of various liquor shops in the area. It is noteworthy that, Cuttack Excise Superintendent Debashish Patel said, “Strict action will be taken against such incidents.” He further said that a fine will be imposed on the liquor shop and a case will also be registered against the shopkeeper.
