Live-in woman murdered, accused arrested
Balrampur. Police on Monday made disclosure in the case of dead body of a woman found in the forest in Balrampur district. A 30-year-old woman living in a live-in house was murdered by her minor disabled brother-in-law along with his cousin. After this the dead body was also raped. The body of the woman was found on January 31 in Geur Haritima Bansbari forest of Rajpur police station area. After information from people, police reached the spot. After investigation by the forensic team, the police conducted postmortem of the body. The postmortem report revealed that the woman was murdered by strangulation and the dead body was raped by more than one person.
Police investigation revealed that the deceased woman Sitawati God was earlier married to Jeetbandhan Marco, a resident of Deori, Wadrafnagar. The woman also has 3 children. Due to a personal dispute, she left her husband and children and came to Ambikapur and was working as a laborer while living in Asola. Three years ago, she started living in a live-in relationship with Manoj Cherwa, a resident of village Parsaguri. When the police investigating the case got the mobile call details of the woman, on the day of the incident, she was found to have received 15 calls on her mobile from Manoj’s minor disabled brother and another number. Manoj’s cousin Krishna Soha was second in the investigation. When the police interrogated Krishna Soha strictly, the matter came to light. Police investigation revealed that the murder was planned by the woman’s 17-year-old minor brother-in-law. This accused is also a disabled person who has poor eyesight. Actually Manoj Cherwa had left his first wife.
Sitavati was living with Gond in Ambikapur. Manoj Cherwa’s mother has grown old but Manoj was neither sending money to her house nor helping her in farming. Due to this, Manoj’s brother planned to kill his sister-in-law and included his cousin brother Krishna in his plan. Police investigation revealed that the disabled brother-in-law had called Sitawati in the name of giving water to the fields. On Tuesday, he called 15 times from his and Krishna’s phone. When Sitavati reached there in the evening, all three of them drank alcohol and ate chicken together in the forest. After this, while returning from there, both of them strangled the woman to death with a nylon rope and then raped the dead body. Both the accused had fled leaving the body of the woman in the forest. After this, Rajpur police arrested both of them on the basis of call details. After being produced in the court, one accused has been sent to jail and the minor disabled person has been sent to a juvenile home. The team of Rajpur TI Rajesh Khalkho, SI Dinesh Rajwade, Vijay Dubey, ASI Rakesh Singh remained active in the investigation of the case.
