Local gardeners also got great relief from snowfall

Dehradun: Snowfall in the high altitude areas of Chakrata and Tiuni tehsil has brought great relief to the gardeners. According to agricultural scientists, snowfall will complete the winter period of apple trees. This will result in more flowering on apple trees. Fruit production will increase. At the same time, cash crops will also benefit from snowfall and rain. However, due to lack of timely rain the pulses crop has been ruined.

Dr. Ashok Kumar Sharma, head of Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Dhakrani, said that the cooling period is very important for the apple tree. This period ranges from one thousand to 1200 hours. In this the trees keep walking in sleep. Currently, a temperature of about seven degrees Celsius is required for cooling. He said that there has been snowfall in the high altitude areas of Chakrata and Tuni. Told that due to low temperature, suitable environment has been provided for the trees for the winter period.

He said that light rain will also be beneficial for cash and other crops. Told that rain reduces the possibility of frost. Soil particles dissolved in fog settle down due to rain. Sun rays reach the earth in sufficient quantity. This will also increase the temperature after snowfall and rain. Plants have also received adequate amount of nitrogen.
