Local people want ‘man eater’ to be killed, protest

Wayanad: A search has been launched for the tiger that allegedly attacked and killed 36-year-old Prajeesh in Vakeri. Tracking experts have started searching for the animal and believe that the tiger has not gone very far and might be hiding somewhere nearby.

The tranquilizer team is listed in Bathory and they will head to Waikeri after the wildlife conservation chief issues the order to use tranquilizers on the tiger. The villagers are distressed by this attack and are demanding to declare this tiger a man-eater. They are the opposite of pacifying the beast and those who shot it with arrows.

Bathri MLA has also made the same demand that the tiger should be killed. Prajeesh’s family and locals strongly affirm that until a decision is taken regarding the tiger, they will not take the body of the deceased to the Taluk Hospital. A diligent post-mortem has been concluded.

Meanwhile, forest officials have confirmed that the footprints found near the area where Prajeesh’s body was found are those of a tiger. This means that the tiger once again returned to the same place where the attack took place in search of the dead body.
