Lok Sabha Elections: Congress’s Kadiyam Kavya wins from Warangal seat

Hyderabad: Congress candidate Kadiyam Kavya defeated Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate Aroori Ramesh and Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) candidate M Sudheer Kumar from Warangal seat by over 2.16 lakh votes.Kadiyam Kavya, daughter of former deputy chief minister Kadiyam Srihari, dramatically quit BRS along with her father after the pink party announced her candidature from Warangal. Congress won again in Warangal after losing the seat to BRS in three consecutive Lok Sabha elections (including one by-election).
The final numbers will be updated after the last round of polling is over.

In the 2009 Warangal Lok Sabha election, Rajaiah Sirisilla of Indian National Congress (INC) won the seat with a total of 396,568 votes (38.48%). In second place was Telangana Rashtra Samithi’s (TRS) Ramagalla Parameshwara who got 271,907 votes (26.39%), followed by Telugu Desam Party’s (TDP) Dommati Sambaiah who got 135,697 votes (13.17%).

2014

In the 2014 Warangal Lok Sabha election, Telangana Rashtra Samithi’s (TRS) Kadiam Srihari won the seat with a total of 661,639 votes (56.33%). Congress candidate S Rajaiah (22.9%) came second, while BJP’s R Parameshwara (15.93%) came third

2015 In the by-election held in 2015 due to the resignation of TRS MP Kadiam Srihari, TRS candidate Pasunuri Dayakar won the seat by securing 615403 votes (59.50%). Congress candidate D Sarve Satyanarayana came second with 156315 votes (15.11%) and BJP’s P Devaiah came third with 12.57% votes.

2019 In the 2019 Lok Sabha election, Pasunuri Dayakar won the seat again by securing 612498 votes (57.69%), followed by Congress’ D Sambaiah with 262200 votes (24.7%) and BJP’s C Sambamurthy with 83777 votes (7.89%).

Warangal Lok Sabha constituency comprises two assembly constituencies: Warangal West and Warangal East.
