Lokesh Kanagaraj confirms replacing Vijay Sethupathi’s Sandhanam at LCU
Vikram, the 2022 blockbuster that marked the comeback of veteran actor Kamal Haasan to films, is one of the best multi-starrers of Indian cinema in recent times. The Lokesh Kanagaraj-directed film stars National Award-winning actors Vijay Sethupathi and Fahadh Faasil in pivotal roles, while Suriya plays a cameo role.
Vijay Sethupathi played the main antagonist in the film, Sandhanam, a ruthless leader of a drug cartel who works for Suriya’s character Rolex. Even though Sandhanam was killed in the climax of Vikram, fans were hopeful that his character would be brought back as the actual death scene was never shown. However, director Lokesh Kanagaraj has now put an end to all the fan theories.
In his recent interview with Cinema Express YouTube channel, Lokesh Kanagaraj confirmed that the story of Vijay Sethupathi’s character Sandhanam has indeed been finished in LCU (Lokesh Cinematic Universe) films. The filmmaker also confirmed that Sandhanam indeed died in the climax of Vikram, and would not return in the next installments.
The upcoming LCU films will see the antagonist Vikram being replaced by a new brand character who will help Rolex rebuild his drug empire and fulfill his political aspirations. However, director Lokesh and his team will focus on casting only after completing the upcoming Rajinikanth project, which is tentatively titled Thalaivar 171.
