Low-pressure area over Bay of Bengal: Fishermen advised not to venture into sea till July 22
Bhubaneswar: The regional centre of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) today advised the fishermen of Odisha not to venture into deep sea are as a fresh low-pressure area has been formed over the Bay of Bengal.
A low-pressure area has formed over central and adjoining North Bay of Bengal and the associated cyclonic circulation extends upto mid-tropospheric levels tilting southwestwards with height, said the IMD adding that it is likely to become more marked and move northwestwards towards Odisha coast during next two days.
In view of the low-pressure area, the fishermen are advised not to venture into deep sea are of central adjoining north Bay of Bengal on July 18 and along and off Odisha coast, north Bay of Bengal adjoining West central Bay of Bengal from July 19 to July 22.
Meanwhile, the weather department has predicted heavy to very heavy rainfall (7 to 20cm) across the State for next five days.
