Low pressure over Bay of Bengal to intensify into cyclonic circulation
Bhubaneswar: A low-pressure system situated over the Bay of Bengal appears poised to escalate into a cyclonic circulation. The progression of this cyclonic circulation aligns with the earlier forecast made by international meteorologist Jason Nicholls. In accordance with Nicholls’ projections, a low-pressure area is anticipated to take shape over the Bay of Bengal in the forthcoming week.
Subsequently, there is a possibility of its intensification into a significant storm. By the conclusion of the ensuing week, there is potential for it to transform into a cyclonic storm, contributing to adverse weather conditions in the Indian subcontinent and Bangladesh due to the disturbance formed over the Bay of Bengal.
Nevertheless, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has refrained from confirming the development of the cyclonic storm. The IMD anticipates the emergence of a low-pressure area over the South-Eastern Bay of Bengal on November 14, 2023. This system is expected to intensify into a depression by November 16.
In light of these developments, the Southern and Northern regions of Odisha may encounter episodes of light to moderate rain showers.
