Lowest minimum temperature recorded IMD predicts mild conditions ahead

Hyderabad: Gachibowli witnessed the lowest minimum temperature in Hyderabad on Thursday as it recorded a cold of 15 degrees centigrade. Along with the drop in temperature, cold wind blew in the city during the afternoon and morning. During the last week, Hyderabad experienced a lot of temperature fluctuations. The city recorded a minimum temperature of 19.7 degrees Celsius on December 2, followed by 20.6 degrees Celsius on December 3 and a maximum of 22.5 degrees Celsius on December 4. However, on days 5 and 6 of December the temperature dropped and was recorded at 20.6 °C and 20.2 °C respectively. There was a slight increase in the temperature on 7 December and it reached 20.4 °C, but on 8 December the mercury dropped drastically and reached a minimum of 17 °C. However, the India Meteorological Department, Hyderabad (IMD-H) has indicated that there will be no fresh drop in minimum temperatures across the city. “Wind has been predominant during the past days due to the overcast conditions at the beginning of the week, resulting from the impact of the cyclone. As a result, this situation has contributed to the drop in temperatures. However, from Saturday onwards, it is expected that both the maximum and minimum temperatures will remain above normal, with the minimum temperature hovering around 20″, said Dr A, IMD-H Scientist ‘C’. Shravani said. Additionally, he said it is unlikely that the city will experience extreme winter temperatures until at least mid-December. “Thermal sensations have impacted the recent decline, but we expect mild conditions to return,” Dr Shravani said. Although the city experiences a temporary cool climate, Hyderabadis can expect a gradual return to relatively warmer conditions in the coming days.
