Lucknow: Seller designed clock that tells time in eight countries, gifted it to Ram Mandir Trust

Lucknow: A vegetable vendor has gifted a clock for the construction of Ram temple, which is designed to tell time in five countries at the same time. Anil Kumar Sahu (52) said he had recently gifted the 75 cm diameter watch to Champat Rai, general secretary of Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust, ahead of the consecration ceremony of the Ram temple in Ayodhya. He said, “I started working on this watch (75 cm) during Navratri in October and recently gifted one of the watches to Champat Rai ji.” Earlier, these watches were gifted to Khatu Shyam Mandir in Lucknow or Kotwa Dham in Barabanki and Kunteshwar Mahadev. The clock designed by Sahu has become the center of attraction of the vegetable market near Hanneman Cross. The clock tells time in India, Dubai (UAE), Tokyo (Japan), Moscow (Russia), Beijing (China), Singapore, Mexico City (Mexico), Washington DC and New York (E.U.E.). Sahu said he first made the watch in 2018 and the Patent Office of the Government of India granted him a “certificate of registration of the design”. Show time of India, China, Dubai, Moscow and Tokyo. Sahu plans to design watches in the future that can indicate the time of 25 countries. Sahu said he was inspired by the idea while discussing the horological zone with his tenant in Oman, and added that he wanted to gift one of those watches to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath . Himanshu Verma, a resident of Vastu Khand of Gomtinagar, who was buying it from Sahu, looked at the new watch with curiosity. Dijo: “He saw different clocks at the reception desk of different hotels in Lucknow, showing the current time of different important cities of the world. However, this is the first time that he saw a clock showing the time of different places at the same time. In the world.” Sahu also said that he is planning to make such watches commercially, but is not able to do so due to lack of funds. He also said that on an average the cost of making a 75 cm tall watch is around Rs 3,000; And it took about an hour and a half to do.
