Lucknow: Suspected terrorist belonging to ISIS caught from Aligarh
Lucknow: An alleged terrorist linked to ISIS was arrested in Uttar Pradesh’s Aligarh on Wednesday, the state Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) said.
According to a release, Faizan Bakhtiar was wanted by the ATS and a reward of Rs 25,000 was announced for information leading to his arrest.
He was part of the Aligarh module of terrorist organization ISIS and was admitted to the Master in Social Work course of Muslim University, Aligarh, the ATS of Uttar Pradesh Police said in its statement.
He said the name Bakhtiar had cropped up at the stadium after two alleged ISIS-linked terrorists, Abdullah Arsalan and Maaz bin Tariq, were arrested in Aligarh in November last year.
According to reports, the ATS had seized “prohibited” literature.
It said the counter-terrorism unit received a tip-off that some radicalized individuals, influenced by ISIS, were involved in anti-national activities and were forming a “Jewish group” following the instructions of their leaders in the terrorist organization.
According to the statement, Bakhtiyar was connecting people to the Aligarh module of ISIS.
