Ludhiana: Bars instructed not to serve alcohol to people below 25 years of age

Ludhiana: Emphasizing zero tolerance for violations of excise rules, Deputy Commissioner (DC) Himanshu Jain on Sunday issued strict instructions to all hotels, restaurants, dhabas, bars, and pubs in Ludhiana, prohibiting them from serving alcohol to anyone under the age of 25. The DC expressed concern over instances where liquor or beer is served without prior permission during live shows and DJ parties, which could lead to law and order problems. Venues were instructed to strictly adhere to the stipulated timings and close operations after that. In case of any law and order problem, liquor service should be stopped immediately and the matter should be reported to the nearest police station without delay.
Staff should thoroughly verify proof of age and reject any fake or forged IDs. Loud music, DJ sessions, and parties should end within the stipulated time to avoid noise pollution and public disturbance. Prior permission from the relevant authorities is required to organize any special event or gathering. To ensure compliance, special enforcement teams have been formed under the leadership of the Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM), accompanied by Assistant Commissioners of Police (ACP)/Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSP), excise and food safety officers. These teams are conducting random checks throughout the district.
