The Chennai Book Fair will begin on January 7th.

Tamil Nadu: The 49th Chennai Book Fair, organized by the Booksellers and Publishers Association of South India (BPASI), will be held from January 7 to 19.
BPASI administrators have announced that, as usual, the book fair will be held at the Nandanam YMCA Ground. They added that this year they plan to set up more than 900 stalls and organize special programs with the participation of scholars from various fields.
Recently, BPASI held its general body meeting and elections for its administrators. R.S. Shanmugam was elected President. Along with him, new administrators were also elected for various responsibilities. Last year, the Chennai Book Fair was held as a trial run in late December and concluded before the Pongal festival. However, this book fair was not successful for many publishers and sellers.
Keeping this in mind, the new BPASI administrators have planned to hold the book fair around the Pongal holidays this time. Accordingly, they have announced that the book fair will be held from January 7 to 19.
It has been decided that the book fair will be open from 2 PM to 8:30 PM on weekdays and from 11 AM to 9 PM on weekends and holidays.
BPASI administrators have stated that they are expediting preparations for the inauguration ceremony, programs, and exhibitions.
