Ludhiana: Man arrested for murdering his wife
Ludhiana: In a shocking incident, a woman was found dead under mysterious circumstances on the national highway in Khanna on Tuesday. Following investigation, the police arrested the deceased’s husband Gaurav Kumar for her murder. According to the police, the suspect, a resident of Shimlapuri, was going to his in-laws’ house in Saharanpur with his wife Reena and their six-year-old son on Tuesday morning. On the way, he allegedly stopped the car and strangulated his wife to death and then hit her head twice with a dashboard. In an attempt to hide the crime, he tried to pass it off as a robbery. However, his story was full of inconsistencies and he finally confessed to the crime during interrogation.
Investigation revealed that he and his wife had a troubled marital life, with frequent quarrels and cases of domestic violence. Reena suffered from epilepsy and had recently suffered a miscarriage. On the morning of January 7, Gaurav left for his in-laws’ house with his wife and son. After committing the crime, he took the body to his house in Shimlapuri. Later, he informed the Khanna police about the incident and claimed that his wife was murdered by someone with the intention of looting the car on the highway. However, the police got suspicious of Gaurav’s story and started investigating. During interrogation, he kept changing his statement repeatedly and finally confessed his crime. Khanna DSP Amritpal Singh Bhati said that Gaurav’s arrest was possible due to the thorough investigation and interrogation of the police.
