Ludhiana: Platform 1 at railway station is now operational, waiting for shed
Ludhiana: Platform 1 at Ludhiana railway station has become operational after a gap of nearly two months. The platform was closed for renovation works. Though everyone heaved a sigh of relief that the platform has become operational, passengers and porters looked a little worried as the shed is still not constructed. See here, there is no shed, passengers have to face the scorching heat while waiting for their trains. The authorities should have taken a few more days and opened the platform after the work was completed,” said Jasjp Singh, a resident who had come to drop off a cousin.
During the renovation works, all vehicular movement from the main gate remained closed and people dropping or picking up passengers were advised by the concerned authorities to use the parcel office entrance or the entrance on the Civil Lines side. No trains were affected due to the closure of the platform. However, during the construction, many passengers had complained of facing inconvenience as they had to walk a long distance to reach the other gates.
