Maharashtra: A cache of explosives found in a boat, 17 detonators and 16 gelatin rods seized
Police have recovered a huge quantity of explosives in a boat in Ulhas River located in Thane, Maharashtra. According to media reports, a raid was conducted on Ulhas River by the Thane Collector. 17 detonators and 16 gelatin rods have been seized from the boat moored here. The police also conducted a search operation in Mumbra Retibandar along the Ulhas river. Meanwhile, these detonators and gelatin sticks have been handed over to Kalwa Police Station and BDDS for further investigation. According to media reports, Thane Tehsildar Yuvraj Bangar said that the Revenue Department team was patrolling the area to arrest illegal sand excavation.
During this time he saw two boats without any crew. He told that during investigation, 16 gelatin sticks were found in these boats. Along with this, 17 detonators were recovered. These are materials used in explosives.
According to Bangar, Kalwa police in Thane is engaged in investigation. She is finding out who is the owner of the boats. Officials say that such explosives are generally used in mining/quarrying and fishing. Although it is considered illegal.
