Maharashtra government to draft complete CCTV policy, high-level panel to be formed

Maharashtra: To bring uniformity in the installation and use of CCTV systems, the state government has decided to form a committee to draft a comprehensive CCTV policy.

Need for Uniform Guidelines

With CCTV surveillance now being implemented in most public places, housing societies, shops, malls, theaters, and businesses, the government has stated the need for a uniform policy covering technical specifications, related equipment, repair and maintenance, and enforcement.

According to a Government Resolution (GR) issued on Thursday, this policy will also address aspects related to making CCTV footage available for court proceedings and the process for maintaining law and order.
